Before you beginSubscriptions must be managed through the same platform where they were originally purchased — Rayyan web, Apple App Store, or Google Play. If you are unsure where you subscribed, check your billing emails or your app store subscription settings before making any changes.
1. Identify where your subscription was purchased
Your first step before any subscription change is confirming your purchase platform. This determines where the change must be made.
- Rayyan web — manage through your Rayyan account billing settings
- Apple App Store — manage through your Apple ID subscription settings
- Google Play — manage through your Google Play subscription settings
2. Upgrade your plan
If you need additional features, more collaborators, or broader review management capabilities, you can upgrade your current paid plan.
- Open your Rayyan account or the platform where you purchased the subscription
- Go to your subscription or billing settings
- Review the available plan options and select the one that fits your needs
- Confirm the change
3. Downgrade your plan
If your current plan includes more than you need, you can request a downgrade to a lower paid tier. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing cycle — they do not apply mid-cycle and partial refunds are not available.
- Open your billing or subscription settings on the purchase platform
- Check whether a lower paid plan is available
- Select the downgrade option and confirm
4. Cancel your subscription
Follow the steps for the platform where you originally subscribed.

5. What to do before you cancel
Taking a few minutes before canceling can prevent workflow disruptions and protect your team's access to ongoing review work.
Review your active work
- Check any reviews you own or co-manage
- Note which features in your current plan those reviews depend on
- Consider whether reviews need to be completed or handed off before your plan changes
Review your team's access
- Check team member roles and collaboration permissions
- If another member should take over ownership of an ongoing review, request our support team to assist in transferring that review before canceling
6. What happens after cancellation
Your paid subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period. Once that period ends, your account moves to a lower-access state based on your plan rules.
This affects:
- Access to paid features
- Collaboration permissions and team member visibility
- Review management and ownership controls
- Certain workflow options only available on paid plans
7. If something does not go as expected
If your cancellation or upgrade does not reflect within 24 hours, or if you are charged after completing a cancellation, contact Rayyan Support with the following:
- The platform you used to manage the subscription (web, Apple, or Google Play)
- The date you made the change
- A screenshot or confirmation email if available
- Always manage your subscription from the platform where it was originally purchased
- Deleting the app does not cancel billing
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing period, not immediately
- Transfer review ownership and team access before canceling to avoid disruptions
- If something goes wrong, contact support within 24 hours with your platform details
