Once you start using the Rayyan community, there are three ways to interact with posts beyond writing your own:
- Follow a topic or post to get notified about new activity.
- Upvote replies you find helpful.
- Flag content that breaks the rules.
Follow a topic
When you follow a topic, you get notified about activity inside it. You can choose how much you want to hear about:
- New posts — get notified each time a new post is created in the topic.
- New posts and comments — get notified about new posts and every new comment on any post in the topic.
To follow a topic:
- Open the Rayyan community and click on a topic (for example, Questions & Discussions).
- Click Follow near the top of the topic page.
- Choose New posts or New posts and comments.
Follow a single post
When you follow a single post, you get notified only about replies to that post — not about other posts in the same topic.
- Open the post.
- Click Follow on the post.
Manage what you follow
You can view and manage everything you follow from one place. The My activities page lists every topic, post, and article you follow, with a button next to each for changing or removing the subscription.
- Click your profile icon in the top right of the Help Center.
- Select My activities.
- Open the Following tab.
- For posts and articles, click Unfollow to stop receiving notifications. For topics, click Following to switch between New posts, New posts and comments, or Unfollow.
Upvote or downvote a reply
When a reply answers your question or contributes something useful, upvote it. Upvotes help future readers spot helpful replies quickly and recognize the people who take the time to help.
If a reply is unhelpful, off-topic, or misleading, you can downvote it to signal that to other readers.
Anyone can vote — you do not need to be the original poster.
- Open the post that contains the reply.
- Find the thumbs-up and thumbs-down icons next to the reply.
- Click the thumbs-up to upvote, or the thumbs-down to downvote.
To remove your vote, click the same icon again.
Report a post that violates the Guidelines
If you see a post or reply that violates the Community Guidelines, report it to Rayyan Support. Do not engage publicly with content that breaks the rules.
Report a post if it includes any of the following:
- Personal attacks, insults, or harassment
- Slurs or discriminatory language
- Login credentials, patient identifiers, or other private data
- Copyrighted material the poster does not have the right to share (e.g., full paywalled PDFs)
- Spam, advertising, or off-topic content
- Anything else that violates the Community Guidelines
To report a post:
- Open the post or reply you want to report.
- Copy the post's link using the Permalink option in the post menu.
- Submit a support request and include the link, along with a short description of the issue.
Reports are confidential — the post author does not see who reported the content. A moderator reviews each report and takes action based on the severity of the violation.
