The Rayyan community is a space for researchers to discuss systematic reviews, share workflows, and learn from each other. These guidelines define what is expected of community members and what is not permitted. By posting in the community, you agree to follow them.
What belongs in the community
The community is for discussions about Rayyan, systematic reviews, evidence synthesis, and the workflows around them. Posts outside this scope may be moved or removed by moderators.
What does not belong in the community
Some matters must be handled through Rayyan Support rather than in public community posts. Do not use the community for:
- Account or billing issues — these contain personal information and must be handled privately.
- Bug reports — bugs require tracking and reproduction by the support and engineering teams, which cannot happen reliably in a public thread.
- Security issues — these must never be posted publicly, to avoid exposing other users.
- Feature requests — post these in the Feature Suggestions topic, not in Questions & Discussions.
For account issues, billing, bug reports, and security concerns, submit a support request.
Protect your account
Never share login credentials in any post — yours or anyone else's. Each Rayyan account is tied to a single user, and shared credentials put your team and institution at risk.
Protect the privacy of others
When posting about a review, do not include:
- Patient names, patient identifiers, or any data covered by ethics approval restrictions
- Email addresses, phone numbers, or other personal data of collaborators or participants
- Confidential or proprietary information from your institution
Respect intellectual property
Do not upload or share copyrighted material in the community, including full PDFs of paywalled articles, complete book chapters, or any content you do not have the right to distribute. Citing and discussing such work is permitted; sharing the file is not.
When referencing someone else's research, methodology, or workflow, cite the source.
Conduct toward other members
Members are expected to engage respectfully and constructively, even in disagreement. The following are not permitted and will be removed:
- Harassment — unwanted contact after being asked to stop, threats, sustained personal attacks, or coordinated targeting of an individual
- Doxing — publishing or threatening to publish another member's personal information (full name, employer, address, contact details, etc.) without their consent
- Slurs or discriminatory language based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other protected characteristic
- Public callouts intended to shame or embarrass another member
- Spam, repetitive posting, or off-topic flooding
- Undisclosed commercial promotion — including predatory journals, paid writing services, and any product or service you have a commercial relationship with that you have not openly disclosed
Moderation and consequences
Moderators review community content for compliance with these guidelines. Violations are addressed in proportion to severity:
- Edit or removal of the post or comment
- A formal warning to the user
- Temporary suspension from posting
- Permanent ban from the community for repeated or severe violations
Severe violations — including harassment, doxing, sharing of credentials, and illegal content — may result in immediate ban without prior warning.
Reporting violations
If you see a post or comment that violates these guidelines, report it to Rayyan Support rather than engaging publicly. To report a post, copy its permalink and submit a support request with the link and a brief description of the issue.
Reports are reviewed confidentially. The user who posted the reported content does not see who reported it.
