Before you begin There is an important difference between deactivating and deleting your account. Deactivation disables your access but preserves your data. Deletion is permanent and irreversible. Read this article carefully before submitting any request.
Deactivating your account
Deactivation disables your access to Rayyan but does not permanently remove your data. Your reviews, references, and decisions remain stored and can be restored if you reactivate.
Before requesting deactivation, cancel any active subscription first. Then submit a support request with a short reason for the deactivation.
Deleting your account permanently
Account deletion permanently removes your Rayyan account and all associated data in accordance with GDPR and applicable data protection regulations. Before submitting a deletion request:
- Cancel all active subscriptions — web, App Store, or Google Play
- Export any data you want to keep — see How to Export References and Decisions from Rayyan
- Delete all reviews you own (see steps below)
- Ask the owners of any reviews you collaborate on to remove your access first
How to delete your reviews
Active reviews:
- Go to the Home page by clicking the Rayyan icon.
- Open the review you want to delete.
- Click the ⋯ menu and select Delete Review.
- Confirm Permanently Delete when prompted.
Archived reviews must be restored before they can be deleted — go to Archived Reviews, click Restore, then follow the steps above.
How to submit a deletion request
Submit a support request with a reason for the deletion. The Rayyan team will verify that all prerequisites are met before initiating the deletion process. Once confirmed, all data is permanently removed within 30 days from the date the deletion is activated.
