This article covers how to remove articles and delete questions from the Data Extraction stage. Both actions have important consequences — read the notes below before proceeding.
How to remove articles
If an article was added by mistake or no longer meets your criteria, you can remove it from Data Extraction without affecting its screening decision.
- Go to the Data extraction tab.
- Select the article or articles using the checkbox to the left of the title. Select multiple articles at once to remove them in bulk.
- Click Remove Article in the upper right corner.
Note Removing an article from Data Extraction does not delete it from your review. If you re-add it later by clicking Add articles again, any answers previously entered for that article are restored automatically.
How to delete a question
If an extraction question is no longer needed, you can delete it from the stage. Deleting a question removes it and all answers entered for it across all articles.
- Go to the Data extraction tab.
- Select the question column you want to delete.
- Click Delete Question.
Important Deleting a question is permanent — all answers entered for it across all articles are lost and cannot be recovered from within Rayyan. If you exported your data before deleting, the answers will still be available in your exported CSV file. If you are unsure, leave the question in place rather than deleting it.
