My Library brings cloud-based organization to your entire research collection. Import reference files, full-texts, and other generic file types that relate to your research and organize them into folders. You can then import reference files into your reviews, and have Rayyan auto retrieve full texts using its advanced automatch PDF feature.
What You Can Do
My Library supports:
- Uploading files (PDF, RIS, BibTeX, EndNote XML, CSV)
- Creating folders and organizing items
- Filtering files by type (PDFs, generics, unsupported formats)
- Viewing and managing references saved in your library
- Sending or copying references to any review
- Creating a new review on the fly while sending items
- Download any file you've uploaded.
How to Access My Library
- Log in to Rayyan
- Open the main navigation menu
- Click My Library
Organizing Your Library
You can create folders to structure your content however you prefer. Move uploads into folders to keep everything tidy.
Create a Folder
- Click Add New
- Select Create Folder
- Name your folder
Move Files into a Folder
- Select items using the checkbox next to each file
- Click Move To from the action bar
- Choose the destination folder
- Click Move Selected Files
- Your files will now appear inside the selected folder.
Uploading Files
You can upload any supported file to My Library for safekeeping and later reuse.
- Click Add New
- Select Upload Files
- Rayyan will store them in My Library
Note: Unsupported items will remain visible in your library but cannot be imported into a review.
Sending Files or References to a Review
You can reuse any stored reference in any review:
- Select one or more items in My Library
- Click Import to Review
- Choose an existing review
- Or create a new review instantly
- Click on Import to confirm
- You are optioned either to Move to review or stay in this page.
Using My Library During Full-Text Screening
My Library plays a major role in Full Text Screening:
- If your library contains the PDFs that match your references, Rayyan can automatically attach them
- You can select references and choose Search My Library for PDF
This saves time and avoids manually uploading PDFs for each study.
Downloading Your Files
Anything uploaded to My Library can be downloaded again—ensuring you never lose your data.
Deleting Your Files
You can delete files or references at any time to keep your workspace organized:
- Select the file(s)
- Click Delete in the action bar
- Confirm deletion
Note: Deleted items cannot be restored.
View File Metadata Using "Get Info"
You can view detailed metadata for any file:
- Click the three-dot menu (⋯) next to a file
- Select Get Info
- A panel will appear showing:
- File name
- Size
- Type (Reference, Fulltext, Generic)
- Modified date
- Extracted titles or additional metadata when available
This helps you quickly inspect what a file contains without opening it.
Filter Files by Type
You can filter your entire library to find files faster.
- Click the File Type filter at the top right
- Choose from:
- All Types
- Reference
- Fulltext
- Generic
- Your library will instantly update to show only the selected file type
This is especially helpful when managing large collections.
