What is the Rayyan legacy interface? 

Rayyan was launched with a simple but powerful user interface in a distinctly orange colored design that served as the basis for its immense popularity. This original interface has since been superseded by an all new redesigned and updated Rayyan, easily distinguished by its default purple color. Because the original interface has been superseded, the original one is now known as Rayyan Legacy.

How will the release of the new interface affect me?

The new interface includes access to entirely new and enhanced features that have been shaped by user feedback to provide a superior user experience including accessibility options. The legacy interface did not include these enhancements because it reached end of life. The new interface offers a lot more than a new look.  

Can I still access my reviews if I created them using the legacy interface?

Yes, the user interface is just the means by which you access your data and is not a separate application. You will have the same access to your reviews regardless of which interface was used to create them. 

Do I have to pay to access Rayyan via the new interface?

No. Accessing Rayyan via the new interface is available for free to all members. Only premium features require a subscription. During the beta period, the new interface was only available with a subscription because supporting members receive early access to new features. 

How can I learn how to use the new interface?

Rayyan is offering regular live trainings that will walk you through how to use all of the new and improved features exclusively available in the all new Rayyan interface. When you log in to the new interface, you will see a button at the top bar that says: Need training? that will allow you to register for one of our scheduled training sessions which will walk you through the new interface and ask questions. You can also visit the Help Center for how-to articles and tutorials and FAQs.

Why did you end support for Rayyan Legacy?

Rayyan released an all new user interface packed with exciting new and enhanced features built on the latest technology and architecture. The legacy interface is no longer receiving updates so all of the latest features and enhancements are not accessible in Rayyan legacy. Maintaining the legacy infrastructure is an obstacle to future development and upgrading it will allow us to improve the services we deliver for an overall better user experience using the most up-to-date technology. 

What is the timeline for this change?

This change has been in the making over a two year period. Here are some of the major milestones:

• Redesign Process: In 2022, work began on a complete redesign of Rayyan based on extensive research, customer feedback, and design objectives to support an exciting product roadmap and to improve the overall user experience. 
• Beta Launch: In February 2023, Rayyan launched its beta release of the new interface and collected valuable feedback from Rayyan customers who receive early access to new features and are eligible to participate in our beta programs to have greater voice in shaping the future of Rayyan. 
• Production Launch: In November 2023, the highly successful beta program was completed and the first production release of the new interface was made available to all users with the option to choose their default user interface. 
• Production Roll Out: In February 2024, after a year of testing, scaling and performance enhancements, the all new interface became the default interface for all researchers, preserving the ability to switch between interfaces as desired. 
• Completion Date: Access to the Rayyan legacy interface was discontinued on October 1, 2024.

What if I still prefer the Rayyan legacy interface?

Rayyan has an exciting roadmap that requires the latest development frameworks and architecture. We remain committed to preserving all of the things you love the most about Rayyan. All of the best features and design elements available on Rayyan legacy have been or will be incorporated into the new design and many have already been enhanced. The continuous process of improving Rayyan will include additional updates to the latest design. We recommend you write to us with your feedback. We listen.
