How to Use Hotkeys in Rayyan

Rayyan offers a convenient Hotkey feature that allows users to assign letters or numbers to various functions such as exclusion reasons, labels, decisions, and more. This feature streamlines the screening process by enabling users to perform actions quickly and efficiently using keyboard shortcuts. This article provides a comprehensive guide on how to use and manage Hotkeys in Rayyan.

 

Using Hotkeys: To use Hotkeys in Rayyan, simply press the designated key assigned to the desired function. For example, pressing "e" for Exclude, "m" for Maybe, and "i" for Include.

Assigning Hotkeys:

  1. Navigate to the Hotkey settings by clicking on your profile icon in the top right corner and selecting "Rayyan Shortcuts."
  2. In the Hotkey settings, you can view the predefined list of Hotkeys and their corresponding functions.
  3. To assign a custom Hotkey, click on a hotkey to start editing.
  4. Enter the desired letter or number in the input field provided and click "Save."

 

 

Adding Hotkeys for Labels or Exclusion Reasons:

In Rayyan, users can also assign Hotkeys for frequently used labels or exclusion reasons to streamline their screening process further. Here's how you can add Hotkeys for labels or exclusion reasons:

  1. Navigate to the Assigning Exclusion Reasons or Labels Box: During the screening stage in Rayyan, locate the box where you assign exclusion reasons or labels to articles.

  2. Locate the Desired Reasons or Labels: Identify the exclusion reasons or labels that you frequently use and want to assign a Hotkey to.

  3. Click on the Hotkey Box: Next to each reason or label, there is a designated hotkey box.

  4. Add Your Desired Hotkey: Click on the hotkey box and enter your desired letter or number as the Hotkey. For example, you can assign "1" to a frequently used label or exclusion reason. Then, click "Save" to apply the Hotkey.

  5. Using Hotkeys During Screening: Now, while screening articles, simply press the assigned Hotkey on your keyboard to instantly assign the corresponding label or exclusion reason to the article.
