Rayyan ranked first in an independent third party study for its combination of accuracy and sensitivity when performing deduplication of references.
Follow these steps to detect and resolve duplicates in your review:
-
Navigate to Review Data: Begin by visiting the Review Data screen.
-
Initiate Deduplication: After importing all references, look for the Possible Duplicates facet. Click on the Detect Duplicates button. This will initiate the detection process, identifying records that may appear more than once in your review.
-
Start Deduplication: Once you click "Proceed," Rayyan will start the deduplication process. You will see a Detecting Duplicates status message indicating that the system is working to identify potential duplicates.
-
Filter Unresolved Duplicates: Under "Possible Duplicates," click on "Unresolved" to filter duplicates.
-
Resolve Duplicates: Select a duplicate record from the list and click Resolve Duplicates. This action allows you to manually review and decide what to do with the duplicated articles.
-
Compare and Choose: Rayyan will show you a side-by-side comparison of the duplicate entries. You can decide whether to keep the left, right, or both versions of the article by clicking the appropriate option.
-
Systematic Auto-Resolver (Premium Feature): If you have access to the Systematic Auto-Resolver, you can automate the resolution process. Set the criteria and percentage to resolve duplicates based on specific attributes, allowing the system to handle a large portion of the work automatically.
-
Confirm and Proceed: After setting your criteria, confirm the action.
Note You won't be able to undo this action once you confirm. All the duplicates of the percentage you selected and higher will be resolved all at once, which means one copy of the article will be moved to Resolved and the remaining copies will be Deleted. Again, please be advised that you won't be able to undo this action once you confirm. -
View Results: Once the process is complete, check the Resolved articles filter to view duplicates that have been Automatically or Manually resolved. The Deleted filter will show the records that were removed during the resolution process.
The icon appearing beside the percentages indicate that the respective references are Auto-Resolved duplicates, while the references without it are those that have been resolved manually.
