Rayyan provides three convenient methods for importing your research materials, whether you're starting a new review, adding new references to an ongoing review, or working on an empty review. In this article, we will walk you through each method step by step, allowing you to manage your systematic review screening more efficiently.
Importing References/Articles When Creating a New Review
-
Log in to your Rayyan account or sign up for a new account if you don't have one.
-
Click on the "Create New Review" button appearing on the left-side menu.
- Enter the necessary details for your review, such as the review title, review type, and description, then click Create New Review.
- You will be redirected to the second step which is to upload references. Click on Upload, choose the file you wish to upload and click next. (Please make sure the references are laid out in a format accepted by Rayyan as outlined here)
Note Rayyan permits importing 10 files at a time of 100MB per file allowing 1GB of data to be imported simultaneously! Furthermore, those files may be compressed into zip files, mixed and matched and even nested with zip files inside of zip files. - You can track the progress of your import by navigating to the Review Data, and expand the Search Methods tab.
Adding New References/Articles to an Ongoing Review
- In the Review Data tab, expand the Search Methods and click on the Upload button.
- Choose the files you wish to upload and click Continue.
- A Notification will appear indicating that the importing process has begun.
Importing References/Articles into an Empty Review
-
Click on the "Add References" button on the dashboard, and choose your method either from Mendeley or From My Device.
- Choose the files you wish to upload and click Continue.
- A Notification will appear indicating that the importing process has begun.
To delete an import, click the trash icon to the right of the record in the Search methods facet, then confirm.
If you receive any import errors, please refer to this Rayyan Help Center article which provides migration guides and examples to ensure your data is in the correct format.
