Learn how to efficiently categorize articles and add reasons for exclusion during your screening in Rayyan. These tools are especially helpful in collaborative reviews, allowing you to organize your process, ensure consistency across reviewers, and streamline decision-making.
✅ Add or Remove Exclusion Reasons

Go to your Screening page.

Select one or more articles (use multi-select if needed).

Click the “Exclude with Reasons” field in the top menu.

Choose an existing reason from the pre-defined list, or type a custom exclusion reason, then check the box next to it and click Apply.

To remove a reason, deselect it and click Apply.
💡 Any custom reasons you create will be saved to your list for future use.
🏷️ Add or Remove Labels

Still on the Screening page, select the article(s).

Click the “Label” field .

Type your desired label, check the box, and click Apply.

To remove a label, uncheck the existing label and click Apply.
💡 Labels are saved for quick reuse across your review.
⚠️ Important Note on Blinding Mode in Collaborative Reviews
Blinding is designed to prevent collaborators from seeing each other’s decisions, reasons, and labels.
If Blinding is ON, each user will only see and modify their own labels/reasons.
To ensure consistency when collaborating, you may want to temporarily turn off Blinding while managing shared labels or reasons.
